Ten Books You Should Read.

Hi guys! It’s Moyin here! This is like my second blog post of the year! Sigh inconsistencies, inconsistencies. But I’m here now! I’m here for the readers of literature(everyone should be one anyways) so I’m going to be sharing books you should definitely read during this pandemic period! I enjoy reading African literature,Fiction & self development books but African literature is a fave.
Here it goes;) in no particular order...
  1. This House is not For Sale by E.C Osondu- I love this book and I totally recommend! This book had me rolling on the floor. It’s about a particular house which has different people with different backgrounds and character. Tip - don’t get too lost in the book and not be able to differentiate each character from the other it would help you in the end.
  2. Second Class Citizens by Buchi Emecheta - This book shows the lives of two Nigerians who decided to live abroad, this book depicts patriarchy. I felt pity for Adah  and was rooting for her.I didn’t exactly like the ending but it’s a good read!
  3. Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine-Gail  honeyman. This  book has a bit of humor in it and mystery. Its a good book. I enjoyed reading it.
  4. The last black unicorn- Tiffany Haddish. This  book is basically about Tiffany’s life and experiences-she tells her story with a lot of humor, I really enjoyed this book.
  5.   Soft magic by Upile Chisala. This is a book of poems and I completely love! I recommend 10/10. You can read this in one sitting because it’s a poetry book. This book centers around black women and also love.
  6. All the bright places- Jenniffer Niven. Sigh. Where do I even begin with this book, I felt all the emotions and hoped for a great ending but it was an expected ending but I was hoping for the best lol 🤪. This book teaches us about bipolar disorder. I didn’t cry in the end so if you’re worried that it could be an emotional book,it isn’t that way.
  7. Me before you by Jojo Moyes. I’m just putting this has a bonus book because I feel most people would have read this book or at least seen the movie. I absolutely loved this book. Very very interesting. I shed a tear in the end, just a drop 🌚. I also cried when I watched the movie. E.b things. But if you haven’t read this book, you should totally do!
  8. Treachery in the yard: A Nigerian Thriller.by Adimchinma Ibe .
This book is amazing! Very interesting! Totally loved every chapter. It’s filled with suspense and makes you guess who did what and I love that the author used a Nigerian background for this. It’s so beautifully written. I recommend.

 9.   Such a fun age by kiley Reid
This is an interesting read with twists and leaves you wondering who is right or wrong. Plus it also has the theme of racism.

10. You’re a Badass by Jen sincero
I actually enjoy reading self development books , I’ve read a few but this one is actually quite good! I recommend this book especially if you want to love yourself more or need the ginger to chase your dreams.

So Guys, that’s my list,I would definitely be back with more in depth book reviews.

UCHE'S STORY.

Its a Wednesday night, the Ha rmattan fills the whole room, the noise from the kitchen radio awakes my thoughts and I look up at the wall clock and see that its almost 8 p.m. my husband, Richard would soon be back home and my darling daughter Adaeze. I instantly rise walking briskly to the kitchen, today I am going to prepare Adaeze’s favorite meal, garri with melon soup. I always save some leftover melon soup in the freezer just in case Adaeze wants to eat. I bring it out from the fridge , poured it into the pot and added water, then its time to make the garri. The volume of the radio was a bit high, as the man shouting 'VOTE APC' rang in my ears , I turned it off either because the volume was too high or because I didn't want to hear anything about voting. I realised long ago that this country belonged to a few people ,I am just  not one of them;I am a stranger here. I quickly make the garri and checked if the soup tasted right and it did. I decided to call Adaeze to kno...

Friendship

People who know me personally know I'm not so good with the friendship thing.  I don't believe in having a best friend and all or in this "squad thing " I prefer being my own squad . Although  I actually had a "best friend once " but that was in junior school. I met this my friend in basic 7 ,she was quiet and shy just like me and we became good friends . Later on,we found out that both our dads were good friends and even attend the same church lol.We became close and then she became my best friend, this my friend was very nice to me ,whenever I needed anything I could run to her for help, especially when i needed to get an assignment done. Fast forward to basic 9, we weren't in the same class but "nothing could stop our friendship ' thats what i thought, her class became my second class because whenever I was free I was there , I think I was in basic 9 topaz and she was in basic 9 gold .      Although I was frequently going to meet her,she ...

Four things I've learnt from the movie;Alice through the looking glass.

After slipping through a mirror, Alice (Mia Wasikowska) finds herself back in Underland with the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Her friends tell her that the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) is in a funk over the loss of his family. Hoping to save  his loved ones, Alice steals the Chronosphere from Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) to travel into the past. While there, she encounters the younger Hatter and the evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). Hey guys ,recently my friends and i watched this movie:Alice through the looking glass .it's very interesting and funny too . If you haven't watched it yet,you should check it out P.s (it's not a babyish movie but its a disney movie ). Anyways, I've decided to share what i learnt from the movie . 1. Nothing is impossible.  2. Do not let anyone look down on you because you're female . Alice was the first female captain to lead the ship safely.  3.Never let go of your fami...
